format a hard drive with ubuntu installed

hey guys i just installed ubuntu on my laptop. I want to format the drive. how can I do that.

Are you talking about formatting and external HDD or the internal HDD where Ubuntu is install?

If it is the latter, you can do this with your Ubuntu installation CD, however I know no other way to do it besides reinstalling Ubuntu.

just burn a disk or use a disk that you had from before put it in than boot from the disk. Than start the istall but make sure that you do a clean instale

And for formatting an external hdd, you can just use the disk utility (9.10+).
